Two 'yellow' turned into one 'red', PE once withdrew from the scene
Three years ago, Ala cooperated with agriculture, industry and commerce, but eventually withdrew. When it comes to PE cling film, Wu Qiang, the assistant director of the Shanghai Plastic Products Industry Research Institute and the drafter of the national standard for polyethylene (PE) self-adhesive cling film, who has been dealing with it for more than 20 years, showed a bitter smile on his face.
He told reporters that at first, the person in charge of Nonggongshang NO.118 store recognized the hidden dangers of PVC film and discussed with the research institute to bring PE film into the supermarket and hang a sign of "green and environmentally friendly packaging". After only a few days of trial implementation of the new measures, the supplier issued a "yellow card": the anti fog performance of PE film is too poor, and the "water mist" formed by cold and heat cannot dissipate. Customers cannot even see what they are packaging, how can they take out money?
After pondering for a long time, Lao Wu found a way to deal with it. He added the anti dew agent contained in PVC to the PE insurance film. Although the "secret formula" could not achieve maximum effectiveness due to processing temperature, and the water mist would take a while to disappear, it was considered a risky pass.
But a few days later, the suppliers pulled out a second "yellow card": the PE cling film had poor adhesion, packaging was time-consuming and laborious, and labor costs were too high. This is indeed a hard injury, "said Lao Wu. Due to weak self-adhesive properties and difficult sealing, wrapping food with PE film is half as efficient as PVC film in the same amount of time." However, the properties of the material are difficult to change
Since there is no flexible solution, two "yellow cards" have turned into one "red card", and the PE plastic wrap can only leave with a gloomy tone.
Time has passed, although PE cling film has become a new favorite nowadays, many manufacturers still cannot enjoy it.
A manufacturer surnamed Lin revealed that according to incomplete statistics, the country currently requires 20000 tons of cling film annually, while regular manufacturers have an annual production capacity of less than 10000 tons. In Shanghai alone, a large supermarket consumes 3 tons in a month. Now, with dozens of manufacturers changing their packaging together, it is impossible to cope with just tens of tons of energy from 45 manufacturers.
At the same time, due to long-term small-scale production, the specifications of PE cling film are mostly 30cm wide "home packaging", while supermarkets and stores require different models such as 35cm, 40cm, 45cm, etc. No wonder Mr. Lin sighed that in recent days, many supermarkets have ordered from him, "size is broken, production is insufficient, centimeters and other different models, no wonder Mr. Lin sighed that in recent days, many supermarkets have ordered from him," size is broken, production is insufficient, new equipment and production processes cannot be immediately launched, I just want to make money but cannot
Since legitimate enterprises are unable to quickly capture the market, many imaginative "wild paths" have seized this opportunity to make a profit.
Mr. Liu, who is well versed in the mystery behind this, said that in recent times, many small factories producing PE cling film have emerged in Shanghai and surrounding areas. They buy PE cling film from legitimate manufacturers as samples to entertain customers and engage in the business of "selling dog meat by hanging sheep's heads".
Mr. Liu said that the raw materials purchased by legitimate enterprises in Shanghai are mostly Shanghai Petrochemical's food grade Q200 polyethylene, while those small factories actually use agricultural or industrial grade raw materials in order to save copper. These polyethylene contain chemical substances such as antioxidants and opening agents, which are harmful to the human body but not beneficial.
What's even more infuriating is that these underground factories are still struggling with the thickness of plastic wrap. Mr. Liu said that the normal thickness of PE cling film should be 1.1 silk meters (1 silk meter=0.1 mm), but some manufacturers' "Daxing goods" are only 0.6 silk meters. The "clumsy goods" that are "as thin as cicada wings" cannot withstand high temperature baking. As soon as they enter the microwave, their appearance will be ruined, and holes will be "burned" on their faces. The melted "poison juice" will take advantage of the situation and enter the fragrant food.
